  IMPERSONATION OF THE BBB
Posted by: debradragon - 01-03-2025, 06:05 AM - Forum: Tickets / Impersonation - No Replies

Impersonating the Better Business Bureau (BBB) scam involves fraudsters pretending to represent the BBB to trick individuals or businesses. They may contact victims via phone, email, or social media, claiming issues with their BBB profile, complaints, or fees. Their goal is to steal personal information, money, or both. Always verify the contact directly with the BBB and avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing sensitive information.

Wink FTC IMPERSONATION
Posted by: debradragon - 01-03-2025, 05:44 AM - Forum: Tickets / Impersonation - No Replies

Scammers often impersonate the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to trick people into giving up money or personal information. These fake FTC scams usually involve calls, emails, or messages claiming you owe a fine, are eligible for a prize, or need to confirm sensitive information.
How They Work:

  1. Pretend to be FTC Officials: Scammers use fake IDs, logos, or caller ID spoofing.
  2. Pressure You: They might threaten legal action, say your Social Security number is compromised, or demand immediate payment.
  3. Request Unusual Payment: Payment via gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.
Red Flags:
  • The FTC never asks for money or personal details over the phone or email.
  • They won't threaten or pressure you into immediate action.
